2011 "Select Barrel Reserve" Cabernet Sauvignon
SOLD OUT
100% Cabernet Sauvignon
CGCW Review: If at first seeming a bit tighter and less forthcoming than its attractive companion from the same site, this deeply drafted offering simply needs a moment in which to stretch out and unfold, and it gradually proves to be the slightly deeper and more polished wine of the pair. It, too, conveys a sense of fruity precision and richness that is far from common in 2011 Cabernets, and, while a bit rough and tannic as befits its tender age, it shows a professional hand in its careful balance and crafting. Tag it for a visit once five years have passed, but do not be at all worried about hiding it away for another eight to ten years.

Tasting Notes
Inky garnet hue; Bright black cherry, boysenberry, perfumed floral, anise, white pepper, caramelized new French oak, sage, vanilla and clove. Expect a full and plush mid palate density with layered flavors of red currants, sage, bay leaf, integrated toasty oak, plum and baker’s chocolate. The lengthy yet balanced finish exhibits excellent depth, purity, and elegance. This second release of Patland Reserve Cabernet will continue to age well in the cellar, drink now through 2026.
