2012 Syrah
Wine Enthusiast Review: A dense, leathery, richly stylized wine from a great vineyard site, this offers thick layers of dark chocolate, blueberry and plum. Integrated in terms of oak and tannin, it delivers concentration and power, capped off on the finish in a shot of cigar.
CGCW Review: Showing all of the richness and fruity depth that has earned its renowned vineyard source high regard, Patland's Stagecoach Syrah is a big, but very well-polished wine that is rife with sweet, vanillin oak and a full complement of very specific varietal spice. It is sufficiently supple and its many parts are so well-integrated that it is bound to tempt early drinking, but it has the structure and tannic backbone of an eminently ageworthy wine meant for the cellar and will not begin to approach its best until at least a half-decade has passed.
