Tasting Notes
In 2007 we began Patland Estate Vineyards as a Cab-house, planting our flag on this very wine. Ten years later, tasting the 2017 vintage, it’s clear that this wine’s integrity has endured. Just as we began, we continue to source incredible fruit from the renowned Stagecoach Vineyard. The same winemaker that we’ve had from the beginning then marries that fruit with carefully selected French oak barrels. The result is still a wine of depth, purity and elegance. The 2017 vintages opens up with high toned fruit aromas of cherry cola, blackberry liqueur and fresh picked boysenberries. On the palate, you’ll taste stewed blackberries, black currant and black plum. The fine grain tannin and toasted new oak leave an impression of hot cocoa mix on the finish. This wine is rich and generous in its fruit, while being layered and complex in its structure. No one will blame you if you pop the cork now, but there is no doubt that this wine will pay significant dividends over the next twenty years.
